Things I need to remember when setting up, cleaning or maintaining the tanks

This post is a reference for myself more than others. I have to make it a point to note things down here and refer to them if I want to make things easier in the future (I tend to forget things all the time)

Cleaning my Sacem Filter -
1. Close both the valves.
2. Disconnect the inlet and outlet tubes connected to the filter.
3. Clean the filter.
4. Connect all the tubes back and open the valves.
5. Fill the aquarium with enough water to make sure the outlet spray bar is beneath the water level.
6. Use the vertical tube to fill water necessary to prime the filter.
7. Close the lid of the vertical pipe tightly.
8. Now you can turn on the filter.

This works for my Sacem filter only as I have made some modifications to the original filter that I purchased. (This post covers the changes I made)

Banana Lily Plant -
Make sure you remove and trim the roots regularly. The last time the roots covered almost half the tank. If you cut some of the leaves with the stalk and let them float for about 1-2 weeks they start growing roots and form baby banana lily plants.

Anubias -
As the plant grows in one direction, cut the rhizome at the older end and plant it elsewhere. Within couple of weeks new leaves start growing.
